Fall heralds the onset of colder weather, and the colder weather comes snow and ice! The Pittsburgh Explorer’s Club Mountaineering School successfully graduates half a dozen or more new mountaineers each year. With this year’s graduation trip coming up in just a few short months, training is in full swing.

In late September we held an informal meeting to discuss general training principals and how to train specifically for mountaineering. If you missed the meeting, you can catch up on some of the information under “Training Articles” in the main menu.

In addition, Steel City Endurance coach Suzanne Atkinson has created a Presidential Traverse Training Plan
whcih includes a free workout log with training peaks.

Also check out the Mountaineering School forums to the left if you have specific questions about training for mountaineering.
